The purpose of the Airport West Football Club Inc. is to promote, encourage and foster Australian Rules football at all age levels in the Airport West area, including the provision of facilities for the enhancement of the social and personal well being of all participating players and supporting members.
Here you will find the behavioural policies of the Airport West Football Club. These policies, derived from the AFL guidelines, are the ruling and governance policies of our football club. It is expected that all officials, players, parents, supporters and coaches adhere to and promote these policies at all times.
The Rules of the Airport West Football Club inc. outline our methods to achieve this purpose. On 26 November 2012, The Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012 replaced the Associations Incorporations Act 1981. Any Association that is incorporated under the old Associations Act (1981) remains so under the new Associations Act (2012) . The incorporation date of the Association (Airport West Football Club – AWFC) remains the same and the Certificate of Incorporation remains valid.
Primarily, the current rules of the AWFC (hereafter referred to as “Own Rules“) are a condensed version of the new or “Model Rules” introduced by the new Associations Act (2012), with some exceptions.
The Model Rules:
- ensure consistency of administrative process throughout all Associations,
- ensure consistent procedures are applied in the management of the Association,
- makes provision for a natural justice approach to misconduct or a grievance process by a member,
- enable access for members to minutes of committee meetings and financial statements,
As the current AWFC “Own Rules” are consistent with the newly introduced “Model Rules”, with the exception of two issues, the committee decided to maintain its “Own Rules”. If the AWFC Association uses its “Own Rules”, these rules continue to be valid, but once members decide to make any changes to the AWFC “Own Rules”, the rules must address every item required in Schedule 1 of the Associations Incorporation Reform Act 2012.
In the meantime, if there is inconsistency between our “Own Rules” and the “Model Rules”, the requirements of the new Act apply and the process of the Associations Incorportion Reform, 2012 Act (Model Rules) must apply.
Why our own rules?
a) Under the “Model Rules”, members can not be fined for misconduct or damage they may cause to the furniture and fittings, change rooms, social premises or surrounding areas.
b) The process by which the AWFC selects Life Membership is not covered under the “Model Rules”.
